Even though Diablo 4 Season 14 Patch 3.1.1a update increased the drop rate of Mythic Uniques, it doesn’t guarantee you’ll necessarily get more high-quality loot and materials.
For players approaching the endgame, whose strength has reached a plateau and desperately need more Mythic Uniques and Diablo 4 gold to perfect their builds, the reality is that even with the increased drop rate, simply grinding isn’t enough.
Combining your own strength with War Plans might yield different results. Especially in Escalating Nightmare Dungeons, choosing and synergizing key nodes can not only increase the quantity and quality of loot but also change the direction of loot acquisition.

Below, IGGM.com will detail the key node choices that play this crucial role and the final farming strategy.
Middle Path
1. Dread Revival
Dread Revival is practically designed for bosses and double loot drops. Its core effect is that when you successfully defeat a boss in Nightmare Dungeons, that boss has a certain chance to resurrect on the spot.
The resurrected boss has the same health and skills as before. Defeating it again will result in an additional full boss-specific reward. Essentially, you can get the boss rewards from two dungeons for free with just one Sigil ticket.
2. Recurring Nightmare
Recurring Nightmare is directly linked to the loot drop pool of Astaroth, the final boss of Diablo 4 Season 14 Nightmare Dungeons.
With this node selected, defeating Astaroth has a certain chance to directly drop an orange Escalation Sigil; if you haven’t selected this node, you can only manually craft it in Horadric Cube by consuming 5 regular Sigils.
It’s important to note that as compensation for the high rewards, this node permanently increases the strength of monsters in Nightmare Dungeons by 1 level, resulting in increased damage and health. Therefore, IGGM.com recommends that players ensure they are sufficiently strong before attempting high-difficulty levels.
3. Branching Pathways
Branching Pathways is arguably one of the most important nodes in the entire War Plans, located at the bottom of the central path in Nightmare Dungeons.
Its core function is that when you activate a War Plan that includes Nightmare Dungeons and use the special orange Escalation Sigil from Diablo 4 Season of Death Awakening to challenge three stacked difficulty Dungeons consecutively, the single portal will split into three different portals after each level is completed.
Each portal represents a different special Dungeon reward affix. You can choose whether the loot for the next level is Gold, Obducite, or Gem Reserves, depending on your build’s needs. Choosing Branching Pathways node means you have three such choices.
Left Path
1. Waking Spoils
Waking Spoils are the underlying logic amplifier for Shrine Synergies, a popular gameplay element in Diablo 4 Season of Death Awakening, thanks to their special effects.
When you complete any random encounter in Nightmare Dungeons, the regular ground points dropped at the end will be replaced with a unique Waking Spoils Chest.
The rewards in this chest far exceed those from other boss drops, with a very high chance of directly obtaining Sigils upgrades, higher-level Reputation Caches, and Obducite, essential for refining equipment.
Pits, which were once a primary source of Obducite, no longer drop it, so farming Obducite solely in Nightmare Dungeons is far from sufficient for Endgame players.
Kurast Undercity and Helltide, currently the last two farming sources in Season 14, are not reliable. Therefore, players can also choose to buy Diablo 4 Obducites from IGGM.com, where we not only have ample stock but also offer discounted prices.

2. Gauntlet
The core function of Gauntlet is to exponentially increase the number of monsters. Activating any event on the map or clicking on a regular Shrine will start a dedicated Gauntlet counter. All elite and champion monsters killed during Shrine buff will have their souls absorbed by the system. These monsters will resurrect on the spot the instant the shrine buff ends.
Furthermore, the resurrected monsters will not only drop basic loot, but will also double the progress of Waking Spoils chests and instantly stack double Conviction stacks for subsequent Fearless Conviction.
3. Nemesis
Nemesis allows you to immediately spawn 7 elite monsters when activating any shrine in Nightmare Dungeons. Combined with Gauntlet, these monsters will immediately resurrect after being killed, providing double the loot drops. Secondly, Gauntlet can also stack Conviction Stacks for Fearless Conviction that you need to select later.
4. Fearless Conviction
Fearless Conviction is the core, ultimate node on the far left of Nightmare Dungeons skills tree. If Branching Pathways is the compass controlling the direction of rewards, then Fearless Conviction is the super amplifier pushing the drop rate to extremes.
Its core function is to stack Conviction Stacks by killing monsters. The higher the stack, the richer Conviction Chest reward you receive upon completion. It is also the most stable primary source for Diablo 4 Season 14 late-game players to farm Attuned Primordial Dust and Pandemonium Fragments.
However, IGGM.com must remind players that if you are directly hit by an elite monster’s attack while farming, you will lose one Conviction stack. Furthermore, you absolutely cannot use a portal to return to town in Dungeons, otherwise your Conviction will be forcibly reset to zero.
In short, Escalating Nightmare Dungeons isn’t just a simple experience-farming strategy; it’s a comprehensive farming approach in Diablo 4 Season of Death Awakening that connects multiple endgame systems.
